Black And White

Running from the thoughts
I feel like there is a string in my back
An invisible tether, pulling me back
So that when I am gasping for air
And I can hardly breathe
I look up to see I am right back where I started
Staring my choices in the face
Trying to scare them away
Trying to make another
But in the end there's only two
Yes, or no
It's so black and white and I can barely see
And color seems to hurt
So I start running again

Five hundred miles
Three tanks of gas
And you are still haunting me
Your books are on my shelf
The movies we watched as well
Your smell in my hair
Your eyes simply everywhere
A catch in my throat
When I hear your words
Then I realize it's my voice
And I curse myself for the sixth time today
So after five hundred miles
And after three tanks of gas
With boxes unpacked
And you're still here
Yet I'm still alone.

Falling Memories, Revised

So this is how
The autumn leaf falls
In rays of broken orange
And may all bear whiteness
The crimson tidings
The dead and crumpled bring

So this is how
The snow crystal falls
In unwavering silver shards
Yet this young beauty
Will not last long
Warm breath will take it away

So this is how
The lone tear falls
In ominous casted shadows
How one small tear
Can bring a river
Of breathtaking sorrow

So this is how
It's going to be
Forgotten names and numbers lost
How one long night
Can change the world
Without even looking back
